ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Quality Assurance Inspector supports the Remanufacturing and Repair Centre in inspection and reporting requirements to ensure adherence to quality standards.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete all quality assurance incoming, in process, incomplete and final inspections required
- Ensures all repairs/tasks are done in accordance with specifications using applicable checklists
- Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) as required
- Completes all necessary inspection reports and documents related to the Quality Management System including the prevention, detection and disposition of non-conforming items
- Ensure calibration of measuring and testing equipment is updated as per requirements.
- Instrumental in setting QA metrics and generating QA documentation
- Completes necessary administrative duties associated with the QA program including computer system entries, reporting, and charting
- May be required to alter start time or rest days to meet objectives established or required by the Quality Management System
- Travel to Cochrane or other ONTC locations to inspect and calibrate equipment
- Adhere to policies, standards, and requirements
- Adapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment, and all other work generally recognized as QA Inspector work
- Follow prescribed safety procedures including the use of personal protective equipment
- Attend training as required and support on the job training for fellow QA inspectors
- Current shift schedules: Monday to Thursday 12:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Work schedules are subject to change based on operational needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Trade Certificate (e.g., electrician, machinist, pipefitter, rail car technician) or Non-Destructive Testing Certificate (e.g., Visual Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing) or Quality Certificate (e.g., Process Quality, Quality Engineering, etc.)
- Secondary School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
- 3 to 5 years of related work experience including:
o writing reports pertaining to QA inspection
o applying QA inspection techniques, methodologies, and best practices
- Minimum 2 years of experience involving inspections focusing on either regulations, standards, metrology, calibrations, or NDT testing
- ISO 9001:2015 Awareness Training and/or Internal Audit certification preferred
- Understanding of Appearance Approval Report (AAR) requirements an asset
- Experience using hand tools and gauges
- Blueprint reading an asset
- Weld inspection experience is considered an asset
- Knowledge of safety codes and has demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious manner
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Commitment to health and safety best practices
