RATE OF PAY:        $33.51- $39.43 per hour

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Transportation Planning Assistant will play a key role in supporting data analysis, research, and reporting. This position will contribute to various planning initiatives by analyzing ridership trends, on-time performance, and key service-related performance indicators, including service equity.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Analyze ridership, on time performance, and service-related KPI’, including equity considerations.
•    Conduct research on best practices, emerging trends, and other relevant topics as needed.
•    Perform quality assurance checks on data and reports to ensure accuracy and consistency.
•    Assist in reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) files
•    Create maps using GIS to support route planning, service evaluation, and equity analysis.
•    Develop graphics, tables, and reports using Microsoft Office tools to present findings.
•    Assist in preparing data-driven materials for decision-making
•    Prepare summary reports and presentations based on data findings.
•    Track and report on service changes, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
•    Develop and distribute customer surveys, compiling and summarizing feedback.
•    Assist in preparing forms and gathering data to support planning and operational decision-making.
•    Support internal and external engagement efforts by preparing materials for meetings, workshops, and consultations.
•    Assist in documenting methodologies, assumptions, and findings for internal reference and knowledge sharing.
•    Provide administrative and technical support for various projects as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
•    University degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Geography or Data Science or 5 years of recent relevant experience in urban, rural, or transportation planning
•    1–3 months of experience in research, project support, and information summarization.
•    Experience analyzing transportation data, including ridership trends and operational metrics.
•    Skilled in conducting research and summarizing large volumes of information clearly and concisely.
•    Demonstrated ability to support projects through various phases.
•    Familiarity with projects involving coordination across multiple transportation modes.
•    Knowledge of transportation planning, including operations, route evaluation, and policy development.
•    Understanding of transportation regulations, policies, and best practices.
•    Strong analytical skills with a focus on data interpretation and visualization.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
•    Experience with GIS mapping software and familiar with transportation modeling and data visualization tools is an asset.
•    Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•    Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
