ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:

The Production Worker will work with the other trades adhering to production schedules in a safe manner.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works independently and with other trades in the remanufacturing and repair of equipment used in the transportation industry
  • Works from blueprints, sketches, manufacturer’s patterns, circuit diagrams or schematics, and construction specifications
  • Uses hand and power tools commonly used in the industry
  • Adapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment
  • Follows prescribed safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipment
  • May work various shifts and on weekends and some work outdoors in adverse weather
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Secondary School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
  • 1-2 years experience in a production environment
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Experience in finish carpentry, window and flooring installation considered an asset
  • Must be mechanically inclined 
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting and working from blueprints
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Knowledge of safety codes and demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment 
  • Commitment to Health and Safety 
  • Must be able to work shift work
