RATE OF PAY:     $26.57 - $29.53/hour (Increases set out as per the collective agreement. Full rate effective                                                 after 1 year of service)

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Engine Attendant will provide ongoing cleaning/labour services to the division in a safe and efficient manner.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Cleaning/washing of railway equipment, coaches, parts and shop facilities
  • Operating locomotives, track mobiles and forklifts, turning switches, fueling, sanding and watering locomotives
  • Adapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment
  • Follows prescribed safety procedures including the use of safety clothing and equipment
  • May work various shifts including weekends and some work outdoors in adverse weather
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Secondary School Diploma or possess a General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Previous cleaning/labour experience
  • Experience operating a forklift is an asset
  • Ability to pass the examination for Engine Attendants  
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written) including experience with two way radio
  • Valid drivers license
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be available for shift work
  • Previous railway experience, working around large equipment or locomotives an asset
  • Must be committed to Health and Safety
