ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Facilities Supervisor oversees and coordinates day-to-day maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and associated equipment under their designated areas
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete building audits within area (Englehart and northward, systemwide)
- Identify and make recommendations on any issues found in audits including structural and energy management systems
- Take action on any required repairs and oversee external contractors
- Respond to building emergencies such as floods, electrical, wind damage and coordinate resources to respond
- Communicate with all employees relating to building concerns or issues
- Escalate any issues to the Facilities Manager
- Utilize EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) system, identify and process work orders while ensuring EAM system processes are adhered to
- Schedule maintenance team and coordinate with departments to ensure quality and timely service
- Ensure completion of all required documentation
- Provide support and training to staff
- Supervise and support a team of staff, fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture
- Organize and delegate daily tasks to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of duties
- Monitor performance and provide guidance, coaching and feedback to team members
- Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to all relevant health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
- Complete work observations to ensure compliance to safe work procedures and workplace policies
- Hold regular tailgate meetings and educate employees of any hazards, ensuring hazards are addressed promptly
- Investigate and report on all injuries/incidents and provide/implement corrective actions
- Verify and approve all work hours, vacation and sick days
- College diploma in engineering, building operations or related trade certificate of qualification
- Certificate in Building Environmental Systems (BES) or Systems Maintenance Tech (SMT) preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience in a building operator or building maintenance role
- 3-5 years Supervisory experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience with building automation systems
- Experience in conducting building audits including structural and energy management systems and making recommendations for efficiency improvement
- Knowledge of Ontario building codes and permits
- Strong understanding of building/construction principles and ability to read blueprints
- Experience with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
