ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) Revenue and Fleet Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant AAR invoicing while identifying opportunities to maximize revenue. This role captures all mechanical contract work within the scope of individual agreements and oversees ONTC-owned and leased fleets when offline. The specialist also manages prospective equipment acquisitions and invoices equipment leased to third parties. Additionally, this position supports administrative tasks to maintain applicable standards across various shops under the direction of the Quality Assurance Department.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Audit car repairs in Express Yard and invoice external and contract customers accurately.
  • Identify additional revenue opportunities through AAR, MERX, and third-party channels.
  • Ensure all billing complies with AAR Rules and is issued, collected, and reconciled promptly.
  • Resolve car repair exceptions and disputes from external customers in accordance with AAR standards.
  • Serve as SME on AAR Interchange Rules and Manuals of Standards and Operating Practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AAR rules, regulations, and procedural changes.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the Mechanical Department and Quality Assurance team.
  • Coach and mentor Rail Car Technicians, Cell Leaders, and Supervisors on AAR compliance and billing best practices.
  • Liaise between ONTC and AAR technical committees to clarify standards and address employee inquiries.
  • Support AAR certification maintenance, audits, and QA programs as directed.
  • Submit billing for external contracts and leased equipment; complete month-end reconciliation reports.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Certificate of Qualification as Railway Car Technician (268-R) required.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Office Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 2–3 years of recent experience in billing, including auditing work per contract, invoicing, administrative tasks, and report generation.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of AAR Interchange Rules.
  • Familiarity with rail industry equipment maintenance is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Experience with AS400 is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Commitment to health & safety standards.
