ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Structures Supervisor is responsible for supervising and conducting technical inspections of rail infrastructure construction projects. This role involves overseeing onsite contractors to ensure that all work is completed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise contractors and ONTC construction sites to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and in accordance with contract requirements, company safety policies, and applicable regulations
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, ONTC standards and procedures, health and safety policies, and environmental regulations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractor inquiries, concerns, or complaints, and report findings to the Manager, Structures and/or engineering consultant
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and lead or attend daily job briefings as required
  • Supervise and schedule ONTC flagging employees as needed
  • Review the quality and type of materials delivered to site, as well as construction methods and final products
  • Verify quantities and track monthly progress of contractor work
  • Maintain accurate daily and monthly progress reports for reference and payment purposes
  • Keep detailed records of ONTC structures work and perform related office administration tasks
  • Perform field work such as ballast stockpile calculations and photogrammetric mapping using UAVs and other surveying tools
  • Assist with annual structures inspections and related data entry
  • Conduct and support investigations, observations, and inspections using the Intelex system

REQUIREMENTS:
  • College diploma in Engineering Technology
  • C.Tech, CET, or P.Eng designation and Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) certification are considered an assets
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical inspection 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience supervising teams and managing projects
  • Previous rail industry experience and knowledge of railway structures and standards are considered assets
  • Technical knowledge of transportation, transit, and municipal infrastructure construction projects is an asset 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other drafting software
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and plan work without oversight
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative in a team environment
  • Must be available for daily on-site attendance, including potential night or weekend shifts
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays up to 90% of the time
  • Commitment to health and safety practices
