ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The IT Infrastructure Administrator ensures the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the organization’s hybrid IT environment, encompassing both on‑premises and cloud platforms. This role administers and maintains core infrastructure services—including servers, networks, identity, backups, and endpoint management—while monitoring performance, and availability. It also provides technical expertise for troubleshooting, documentation and continuous improvement to support business operations.

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The IT Infrastructure Administrator ensures the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the organization’s hybrid IT environment, encompassing both on‑premises and cloud platforms. This role administers and maintains core infrastructure services—including servers, networks, identity, backups, and endpoint management—while monitoring performance, and availability. It also provides technical expertise for troubleshooting, documentation and continuous improvement to support business operations.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve infrastructure issues across IBM i systems, servers, networks, endpoints, and hybrid cloud environments, using logs and monitoring tools to identify root causes.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues involving switches, access points, gateways, cabling, and device communication across on‑premises and cloud platforms.
- Resolve authentication, access, and permissions issues related to Active Directory, domain services, and M365 identity integration.
- Configure, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure, VoIP systems, and print services to ensure reliable connectivity and communications.
- Support endpoint and mobile device environments, resolving issues impacting user access to corporate systems and services.
- Administer and maintain server environments (including Linux and IBM i), ensuring system health, performance, patching, and stability.
- Implement and validate system updates, patches, and configuration changes in alignment with security standards and operational requirements.
- Manage backup and recovery processes across infrastructure platforms, including monitoring jobs, performing recovery testing, and supporting disaster recovery plans.
- Support specialized software environments by coordinating requirements, performing installations, validating compatibility, and documenting procedures for service desk handoff.
- Maintain technical documentation, contribute to infrastructure planning and lifecycle improvements, research enhancements, and provide technical guidance to IT staff and business units.
- College diploma in Information Technology, Computer Systems, or a related field.
- CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications are considered assets.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience administering Windows and Linux operating systems in a production environment, including configuration, patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting network infrastructure, including switches, access points, gateways, cabling, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with hardware installation, cabling, and physical infrastructure support.
- Experience supporting endpoint environments, including desktops, mobile devices, and specialized workstations.
- Experience with IBM i (AS/400) systems, including OS management, storage, security, backup and recovery, and high availability, is an asset.
- Experience with virtualized environments and hybrid on‑premises/cloud infrastructure is an asset.
- Experience with backup and recovery systems, including monitoring, restore testing, and disaster recovery readiness, is an asset.
- Experience installing and supporting specialized software, including coordinating vendor requirements and documenting standardized procedures, is an asset.
- Working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies, including servers, virtualization, networking, endpoints, backup systems, and cloud services.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose complex, multi-system issues.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical users, IT staff, and vendors.
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a production environment, including during incidents or outages.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong documentation skills, with the ability to create clear procedures and technical standards.
- Sound judgment and discretion when working with sensitive systems and data.
- Valid Class G driver’s license with the ability to travel between work locations as required.
- Willingness to complete role-specific training and certifications.
- Ability to work in operational or industrial environments and perform physical tasks such as lifting, cabling, and hardware setup.
- Flexibility to work outside regular hours for maintenance, upgrades, or incident response.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to adapt to evolving technologies and infrastructure needs.
