ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Health & Safety Trainer is responsible to develop and provide health and safety training to employees in all departments of ONTC.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess job responsibilities and company policies and procedures to determine training requirements
- Understand the requirements of the Canada Labour Code, Regulations, Standards, and industry best practices as it relates to operational needs
- Work closely with Incident Management Specialist to determine training needs for any newly developed procedures;
- Regularly audit the workforce and assess the training needs of employees who require additional support in building their skills and knowledge
- Develop and customize training standards and material to meet all training needs as it relates to hazards and dangers specific to the multiple divisions, including an industrial/shop setting
- Ensure employees meet the requirements to be certified and/or qualified in the work they are performing
- Implement emergency drills as needed throughout the many facilities within the organization
- Manage training schedules, compliance, and knowledge requirements as needed
- Coordinate procurement and scheduling of any third party training
REQUIREMENTS:
- College Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Human Resources
- 3-5 years of experience in the safety industry
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) and/or working towards is preferred
- Experience in the industrial sector with knowledge of risks, tools, and equipment considered an asset
- Knowledge on industrial regulations would be considered an asset
- Experience developing and delivering training
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including public speaking
- Strong planning, coordinating and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint, as well as knowledge in learning management systems
- Must be committed to Company Health & Safety
