ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Pipefitter will completely and independently install, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, traps, waste and sewage plumbing systems, sprinkler systems, auxiliary power units (APU), airbrake systems, etc., on buildings, power houses, yards passenger coaches, locomotive and work equipment.

The Pipefitter will completely and independently install, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, traps, waste and sewage plumbing systems, sprinkler systems, auxiliary power units (APU), airbrake systems, etc., on buildings, power houses, yards passenger coaches, locomotive and work equipment.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Completely and independently plan, lay-out, repair, dismantle, rebuild, maintain, install, fabricate high- and low-pressure pipeline systems which carry water, air, oil, gas, solvents, etc., select proper materials
- Completely and independently install, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, traps, waste and sewage plumbing systems, sprinkler systems, Auxiliary Power Units (APU), airbrake systems etc., on buildings, power houses, yards, motor coaches, passenger coaches, locomotives and work equipment
- Use various types of pipefitter tools and machinery
- Welding of pipe and similar materials in the performance of pipefitter’s work
- Works from blueprints, sketches, manufacturer’s patterns, and construction specifications; adapts to new methods, processes, material and equipment,
- Complete all other work generally recognized as pipefitter’s work and such other work as may be defined by the Lines of Demarcation Committee
- Certificate of Qualification as Plumber 306A, Pipefitter 307A or be a final year apprentice in the same identified trade
- Experience working within a unionized environment
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
- General knowledge of safety codes; characteristics of steam, water, air, oil, gas, acids, etc. pressure ranges and pipeline expansion
- Ability to work in a safety conscious manner
- Welding experience an asset
- Good working knowledge of computers considered an asset
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral & written)
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
