ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
Under direction of the Customer Service Supervisor, the spare will provide relief as needed to the Customer Service Unit, Crew Management Centre, Terminal Support Workers in Englehart and provide out of terminal coverage.
MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain timely accurate railcar event records in the RMI system (including received and delivered interchanges, placements, releases, pulls, delays, holds, rejects, bad orders, arrivals and departures) through various methods of communicating with other internal departments, local customers and interchanging railroads
• Provide operating crew with switching requirements (for local customers/mechanical bad order repairs and releases)
• Ensure the communication of timely and accurate yard inventory through communication with yard operating crews and by conducting an occasional audit of the yard (yard check) and participate in group reviews for improvement
• Assist in the formalizing of processes, communication methods and paths particular to the Englehart operations and other terminals
• Provides relief for the Crew Management Centre, Customer Service Unit and Terminal Support Worker in Englehart and out of terminal coverage as required
• Responsible for calling all train crew employees on the system including Freight and Passenger Trains, all Yard Assignments, Recrew, Rescue, Work Trains and away from home crew calling
• Tracks and records train crew employee mileage
• Responsible for tracking Work/Rest hours of duty
• Advertising and awarding temporary/permanent train crew job vacancies
• Maintains crew calling books manually/electronically
• Provides information to individual train crew employees by telephone, fax, electronic format
• Staff record keeping
• Cleans and scales cars
• Performs janitorial duties and maintains car cleaning records
• Performs other related duties as required
REQUIREMENTS:
• Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or General Educational Diploma (GED)
• Valid Ontario G driver’s license
• Must be able to travel
• Cleaning experience
• Clerical experience
• Must have a sound working knowledge of computers with strong keyboarding skills
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, as well as, organizing and time management skills.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
• Available for shift work
• Committed to Company Health and Safety
• Railway experience would be an asset
