ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The ERP Process Specialist – HR/Payroll plays a key role in supporting the HR and Payroll ERP Leads and stakeholders by ensuring that HR and Payroll business processes are clearly defined, aligned, and effectively enabled within ONTC’s ERP system. This role focuses on process design, optimization, and adoption. Working closely with HR and Payroll leads to translating business requirements into standardized, efficient end to end processes. The Specialist supports the HR and Payroll ERP Leads and stakeholders by validating processes, identifying impacts, and helping guide stakeholders through change using a practical, solution-oriented approach. Following implementation, the role continues to support the HR and Payroll ERP Leads by monitoring process performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and helping maximize system utilization. This position will also support HR and Payroll teams in adopting and sustaining new ways of working, ensuring processes are understood, consistently applied, and continuously improved as business needs evolve.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in configuring ERP modules to meet functional requirements.
  • Apply functional knowledge to update system settings, workflows, and business rules.
  • Document configurations, process flows, and changes.
  • Validate, cleanse, and apply data standards to legacy data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to required structures prior to migration.
  • Support data mapping, transformation, and testing activities, identify data inconsistencies, and escalate issues as required.
  • Develop and execute functional test scenarios, document defects, and ensure testing results are clearly captured.
  • Collaborate with ERP Leads, IT, and vendors to troubleshoot issues and support timely resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with SMEs and cross‑functional teams to validate requirements and processes, and participate in project meetings, design workshops, and training sessions.
  • Communicate findings, risks, and progress through regular status updates to the ERP Lead and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support documentation, training, and user adoption by creating functional materials, providing hands‑on support during rollout and stabilization, and resolving or escalating system and process issues as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Advanced College diploma in Human Resources, Payroll Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional Certification considered an asset, such as PCP, CPM, CHRP, or equivalent HR/payroll designation.
  • 2 years of experience working within an HR and/or payroll environment
  • Experience with major system implementations and ERP experience strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of ERP systems, configuration concepts, data structures, integrations, and reporting.
  • Exceptional computer skills, including advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, with the ability to listen effectively, present to diverse audiences, and adapt communication style as needed.
  • Well‑developed analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to assess risk, evaluate impacts, prioritize issues, and contribute collaboratively to solutions.
  • Sound knowledge of functional area theory, best practices, applicable legislation, and organizational structures, processes, and requirements.
  • Agile and innovative mindset with the ability to adapt in changing environments.
  • Experience working in a multi‑unionized environment is considered an asset.
  • Commitment to health and safety.
